We put together this list of 50 companies that hire ice road truckers. The list took hours to put together and we're selling it for $19.99. I can't guarantee that these companies will be hiring now, but it's at least a good place to start your search. Visit the link for more details:
If you are asking about the Alaska Ice Road, the Dalton Hwy is open year round. So the "season" is year round. The comment made by the announcer at the end of a recent episode that the season was almost over, and there was a big rush to haul the remaining loads was completely phony, as are a lot of the situations on the show. Many of them are scripted just to make it more exciting. And the Dalton is not really an "Ice Road" like the one in Canada. It is entirely on land. They do construct a real ice road out to some nearby outlying drill sites from Prudhoe Bay, but that is it.
Before the pipeline construction started, and before the Haul Road was made, they did go cross country in the winter, using special high flotation vehicles, but only in the winter so as to not tear up the tundra and get bogged down in the mud.
